We are a group of masters students in the ESTEEM program at the University of Notre Dame preparing for the potential of a community outbreak of COVID-19 in South Bend, IN. We will be identifying healthy young adults (whose risk factors are low) who are willing to be paired with an elder or an individual who is at high risk in our community. This match will allow low-risk individuals to assist at-risk individuals with the delivery of essential supplies if/when needed. We also want to encourage regular check-ins with these elders by phone or other electronic means.
This matching program is being organized by private citizens (students) for the benefit of those in our community. We participated in a COVIC-19 Design Challenge through Johns Hopkins and are hopeful that we can make a positive impact in the community during this crisis. For any additional questions, please contact Allison Berding at (513) 497-2871.
We are grateful to be partnering with a successful iteration of this matching process in Louisville, KY. To learn more about how they are operating a version of this in Louisville, visit their website: https://lc19match.com/#/
