    Greeted with a smile

My daughter who is a senior in high school felt drawn to help those who needed fed. She was given a couple who are home bound and had no way of receiving food. When she asked the family what they needed picked up from the store she was told they did not have any money and would not be able to repay her. This was hard for our whole family to hear. She would not be doing any grocery shopping for them and then be paid back. Her journey would take to researching food banks and where to find hot meals for them. Since she was assigned to the family right before the Easter weekend, we decided as a family to go and buy food for them. One thing we have taught our children is no one goes hungry. She delivered about 4 bags of groceries to their front porch and since they were an at-risk family, she went to her car and texted the food was there. However, in the meantime, she learned she placed them at the wrong door (large house with many apartments) and the food was gone. She tried knocking on the door to the get the food back from the wrong apartment, but no one would answer the door. When she got home, she was upset that the food was taken by someone else. However, her stance was those people must have needed food also. We then went out for the store a second time to try and duplicate the groceries except this time we added a spring Easter flower. This time she found the correct apartment and waited to make sure the couple could get the food. They were so excited and kept texting my daughter how blessed they were and she was so happy by the spring Easter flower. Our daughter has continued to deliver groceries and hot meals from food banks. Our family has also bought some personal care items for them such as toilet paper, paper towel, toothpaste, tooth brushes, cleaning supplies and even face masks in case they need to go out. My daughter is hoping to someday get to meet her husband. He is in a wheelchair and they live in a second-floor apartment and he cannot come down to meet my daughter, even from afar. Our family has all been able to help in taking care of this couple and we are the ones who have been blessed. Our daughter will attend college in the fall and we know service to her community is one thing she holds very close to her heart and we are very proud of her. Thank you for offering this and allowing us to serve those who need it.
